What it detects
Momentum Shift identifies stocks in long-term uptrends whose MACD has reset to the zero line and turned back up. Momentum cooled off without breaking and is now re-engaging. This is a rest-and-resume pattern, not a bottom-fishing one.
How Signal52 computes it
Three conditions: MACD above its signal line, the MACD value itself close to zero (within the reset band), and price above the 200-day moving average. The zero-line requirement is what makes it a reset. A deeply negative or extended MACD does not qualify.
How to read it
MACD crosses fire constantly; the value of this version is the context filter. Above the 200-day average, a zero-line MACD turn marks the end of a consolidation more often than the start of a decline. Use it to time re-entries on DNA-strong names after multi-week pauses.
