Risk SignalWarning flag

The Extension Signal

Up 25%+ above 50 SMA. Parabolic move, high risk of pullback.

What does the Extension signal detect?

Extension fires when price stretches 25% or more above its own 50-day moving average, which is parabolic territory. Nothing about the trend has broken. The flag simply measures how far the rubber band is stretched.

How does Signal52 compute Extension?

A single ratio: today’s close divided by the 50-day SMA, minus one, at or above 25%. Because strong stocks can stay extended, the scanner also applies a score haircut, roughly halving the contribution of momentum signals on names carrying this flag.

How should you read a Extension signal?

Extended stocks are where momentum profits live and also where the sharpest air pockets open. Mean reversion toward the 50-day is the norm, and gaps of 25% or more close fast when it happens. The flag is not a sell signal on a leader. It is an instruction about entries: chasing here means accepting that a routine reversion wipes out weeks of gains.

Risk Signals in the Elite Score: Risk signals carry no positive weight. They are warning flags that change how a score should be read. A score of 10+ with no risk flags is a fundamentally different setup than the same score with active warnings.
