Risk SignalWarning flag

The Weak Finish Signal

Close in bottom 20% of range. Weak finish, potential reversal.

What does the Weak Finish signal detect?

Weak Finish flags the failed breakout. A stock trades up to its 52-week high intraday but cannot hold it, closing back below the high or in the bottom 40% of the day’s range. Whoever was selling at the high absorbed everything buyers had.

How does Signal52 compute Weak Finish?

The signal fires when the day’s high reaches the 252-day high but the close either fails to hold above that level or lands in the lower 40% of the daily range. It is the only risk flag with a scoring consequence: a Top Tier stock carrying Weak Finish is automatically downgraded one band, to Priority.

How should you read a Weak Finish signal?

Failed breakouts trap the most eager buyers, which is why this is the scanner’s harshest flag. One weak finish can be shaken off, and breakouts frequently need two or three attempts. Repeated tags of the high with poor closes are a different story, describing distribution at a ceiling. Let the name re-attempt on stronger volume before trusting it.

Risk Signals in the Elite Score: Risk signals carry no positive weight. They are warning flags that change how a score should be read. A score of 10+ with no risk flags is a fundamentally different setup than the same score with active warnings.
