What it detects
Quiet Storm finds stocks holding near their highs while volatility and volume both go quiet for an extended stretch. Sellers have stopped pressing, buyers have stopped chasing, and the range compresses. Setups like this often precede a decisive move.
How Signal52 computes it
Four conditions combine: price near the 52-week high, 14-day Average True Range in the low end of its recent percentile range, 20-day average volume at or below the 50-day average, and the whole condition persisting for a minimum number of days. The duration requirement filters out one-day lulls.
How to read it
Compression says nothing about direction on its own; the move can break either way. Signal52 treats it as a DNA-quality trait because compression near highs, rather than near lows, has historically resolved upward more often. Watch for an Action trigger such as Inside Out or Breakout to mark the release.
